Isabel Hughes is a singer/songwriter based in New York City. A born and raised New Yorker, she is currently a Vocal Performance major at NYU. She performs regularly throughout the city.
Isabel’s musical influences include Joni Mitchell, Natalie Merchant, Fiona Apple and Lana Del Rey. She is a classically-trained vocalist who loves to blend styles and melodies into her own unique contemporary sound. Isabel plays the guitar, is learning piano, and aspires to perfect the dulcimer.
Isabel’s passion for songwriting developed during the Covid pandemic, while a student at Professional Children’s School, as she sought an outlet to express herself. Her lyrics are deeply personal – shaped by her own experiences as well as her love of reading, weaving stories and characters from literature and mythology into her songs.
When Isabel isn’t singing or practicing her guitar, she is either reading or walking–briskly–through Manhattan, listening to music.
